A Passionate Entrepreneur with a Flair for Fashion

They say there is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise. Peta Broomberg -Operations Director of Africa Upskill, met with Happiness Radebe, owner and CEO of VH Designs. Broomberg indicated that on first meeting Happiness she saw a “spark that ignited an energy and passion for clothing, manufacturing and design”.

VH Design is a small micro business, that has an opportunity to grow into a supplier of clothing for both the local market as well as nationally. They look at cost effective good quality clothing for a diverse group of people. Their focus is on the manufacturing of school uniforms, corporate wear, children’s clothing, and up-to-date fashion trends for all ages.

Happiness has as a flair for clothing design and fashion, and the tenacity to match it. She has been mentored by seamstresses working in her community for many years. VH Design now has a space in the Skills Village Creative Arts Hub where this excellent sewing business is currently taking shape.

Skills Village is a shared cooperative space for individuals and entrepreneurs to work and learn from each other. The community is exposed to capacity building workshops aligned to job and work experiences which in turn are linked to business generating opportunities. They have been in operation for over 25 years and have assisted more than 2000 youth from various communities.

Future goals for VH Design include working with mentors in the clothing and fashion industry and partnering with well-established fashion designers. VH Design is also networking with existing retail stores to market her business.
